A few weeks ago, when Penn and Goudeau commented that no other countries had claimed a monkey since the Canadian 'Aboot baboons' triumph, I wrote to Goudeau to ask if I could claim bonobos for England/Britain. 'Bonobos for Britain' sounds better than 'Bonobos for England' simply because of the alliteration. (This has some potential to become a political issue, but I doubt that my claiming bonobos for Britain precludes other monkeys being claimed on behalf of England, Scotland or Wales…

Pussy Riot are a Russian feminist punk band. Three of their members were jailed in February 2012 following a protest against Vladimir Putin in Moscow's main Orthodox church, the Christ the Saviour Cathedral. The three women, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Mariya Alekhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich, were told yesterday that they will have to remain in jail until late July while investigations are carried out. The three are recognised as political prisoners by the Union of Solidarity with Political…

@Monkey_Tuesday has 88 followers on Twitter! Does anyone want to help raise that figure to 100? The feed provides all monkey info (and some P&T/Penn's Sunday School info), all the time, and has been approved by both Penn and Goudeau! Please check it out, follow if you like it, send me suggestions for improving the feed, and send me monkey stories/pictures/videos to include! Monkey thanks! (:(|)
One of the hashtags I started for the @Monkey_Tuesday twitter page is #MonkeyTongues: how to say 'monkey' in other languages. So far, with the help of some friends, we've covered French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, German, Italian and Icelandic (the last one thanks to Snorri Guðjónsson, aka @ElSnorko) - but the project seems to have stalled there. If anyone speaks any other languages, and wants to share a new word for 'monkey', please let me know! Thank-you! ( : ( | )

Please check it out on Twitter, follow if you like it, and send comments and submissions or suggest additions and improvements. @Monkey_Tuesday now appears in search, so it isn't hard to find. Or just click here --> …

I wanted to support Penn's latest promotion on Celebrity Apprentice, and went out an purchased 10 pints of Vanilla & Chocolate Magic Swirtle ice cream. I gave 9 of them away, but kept one for myself.
Before I continue, you have to know that I have spent the last four months watching everything that has been put into my system, and have lost 54 pounds. A few spoonfuls of Penn's new flavor was going to be a small treat.
Holy Diarysweetgoodness!! I wasn't expecting it to…

Baboon monkeys kidnap feral dogs as pups and raise them as family members. The baboons groom and play with the dogs and the dogs feed with the baboons. The dogs are well cared for by their respective baboon families and stand guard at night, protecting the baboons from enemies and other feral dogs.
See? Even a baboon is smart enough to realize the potential power of his -- and man's -- best friend, the dog. …
